In all the world, throughout all time
The human race could never find
A way to save the hearts of men
From breaking every now and then
It’s part of life or so they say
It happens each and every day
From losing love when needed most
To losing faith in the Holy Ghost
The pain we feel so deep inside
Is sometimes called the death of pride
It detaches you from those you love
And extinguishes the light above
It makes you turn inside yourself
Diminishing your life and health
It tears away at your very soul
And places you in a darkened hole
Yet each and every broken heart
That sorrow’s touch has ripped apart
Remembers how to be made whole
With love anew from a caring soul
Only a heart that bears these scars
Can truly reach for distant stars
The lessons learned in times of pain
Can raise your soul to a higher plain
It humbles us and lets us see
The greater good in humanity
A world in which we all can thrive
And keep our hopes and dreams alive
A heart that has never been hurt
Has never loved, it sits inert
It has no compassion, no empathy
And can never learn from history
Remember this when you feel down
And that inner smile is but a frown
The heartache that you feel today
Can never last, it goes away
And in its place you soon will find
A pathway to your peace of mind
For even within sorrows sight
You can discern a peaceful light
It calls to you from up above
And floats aloft just like a dove
It is the lasting peace of mind
That every broken heart can find
And in the end when life we leave
Our hearts displayed upon our sleeve
We’ll find that place where we belong
Where love will never do us wrong.
