Breaking free from chained ideas
with shackled hearts locked away
in emotional confinement.
Many years wandering around in silence
far away from principles and justice,
questioning motives of innocence or guilt
of passionate crimes with personal intent,
prosecuting yourself with no line of defence.
Mental exhaustion from unslept nights
trapped in a cell of nightmarish frights.
Muffled screams in darkened rooms
fighting for your life from death and gloom.
Jury of decision can go either way,
breaking free or here I stay,
with a shackled heart locked away
freedom is taken when the stakes are too high,
happiness to pay of truth denied.
