More than just a Tree
To most you are just another tree.
You are part of special memories to me.
All those times you kept me cool in your shade,
away from the blistering sun as I played.
I will never forget all the hours I would sit and swing,
listening to the wind making your leaves and branches sing.
Selfishly you provided food and shelter to those of feather and fur.
All those seasons went as if they were a blur.
I thought you would be forever strong.
One day a storm would prove that theory wrong.
Only another tree to some,
your loss has me numb.
Many special memories I will forever keep.
The task at hand makes me weep.
Cleaning up all your lifeless debris,
In every piece I see a part of me.
You will live on if only by me.
To me you were more than just a tree.
