Absolution
Amidst roaring thunder, sheets of rain,
huddled under a bridge, he is going insane.
Layers of clothes cant stop shivers within,
all hope is gone, life lost to him.
Once he stood tall, so proud and strong,
now he begs for food, stumbling along.
Shame burns hot he cannot hide,
from himself the truth, what lies inside.
Could have it all, a place on top,
just to keep quiet about what he saw.
A middle man, dealing in very high stakes,
in over his head he realized too late.
A man of morals, his code of ethics high,
could not forget, stand silently by.
But who would take the word of a man such as he,
the story told, nobody would believe.
So one whose evil could scorch your soul,
Walks free in life, and nobody knows.
A bum raving nonsense, no one bothering to hear,
The truth he tells, willing in conscious clear.
Eating away inside his heart,
A piece at a time, he is falling apart.
He prays for release, needing peace within,
May god absolve him from this life of sin.
