Debt is the American way of establishing "good" credit.
Bankruptsy is the American way of establishing "bad"credit and the only way of getting out of debt. It is the life jacket they hand you when you are out there drowning. The bureaucracy of the paper work, and new laws, is criminal to the one suffering.
I have gone from A1 credit to No credit in the wink of an eye. It can happen at any moment .. to anyone... bad health, loss of employment, or a number of other things can creep into your life like a bad dream.
It all boils down to .. coming into the world with nothing and leaving it in the same manner... it's not the material possessions that makes one rich.. but the contents of ones heart. Loving and being Loved... that is what you can take with you when you leave this place... a treasure often overlooked, but a true treasure non the less. So.. I now spend more time looking within for my riches.. when you do that you will be surprised at what you may find.
