Deighton Griffith Secondary School : Def Poetry

written by Reader : chadbrowne

To pay tribute to a school young at age Shall I speak of things you say? For you are simple and plains but abuse by fools They pay no respect to you, I see As a theme passes on but bears no fruit You call onto me, to the pain inflicted on you Oh! How your walls are marked, things of bad culture You say, “How could they do that to me?”, I wonder “They vandalize my chairs and tables They pull me down by skipping their classes The success rats of graduation is declining to the floor The sports once won, they now win no more.”
“Are your spirits down?” Thus said to me, “Am I not a place of you education and success! Do I not provide you with the things of which you need for life. But, How do you pay me respect? Do you not bring down my name! You ignorant dogs who use me and abuse me and hate me Have you not curse me enough! Have you not lash me with your foul language! Do you not disrespect me with your musical devices! Do you not waste your time at the place I provided A learning, a teaching, a success, but now you slacks pull down my name”
“Okay!, continue in your ways because you are intelligent To you, Madam or Young Sirs, carry on with your smartness To you that colours my walls, I thank you For atleast you attempted to make me more pretty outside But fail to realize that you have made me ugly inside Therefore, I shall soon shut my doors to you if you think You can bring your ignorance at my feet I shall say my friends, you must leave this place For those who have hurt and mock me, I shall now reject you infront of your faces
“However, if you have not hurt me and mock me and take me seriously If you take the time to learn of what I must offer If you love me to heart by learning by my place My doors shall stay open for you to come anyday My arms are stretched out to receive you Please I beg of you, to come back with hearts of change If you come back to me, you my sons and daughters I shall greet you with a smile and show my again To you, I write, for you have shown your tribute By your degrees or jobs you have to show in your splendor You future graduates of Deighton Griffith Secondary School
