Owed to the Raven : Native American Poetry

written by Poet : cavirzanee

I watched today from the eye of the Raven. High above the green hills.Cold child runs from those things deep inside. And I suppose she always will.

Fear across the great plains as the solders prepare to charge. The tribe in teepee sleeping. The death count fairly large.

Now as I pass the waters a storm over head. Waves crashing on a boat. The people will be lucky if they don't end up dead.

Soon I make the corn field. Goodness golden glow. But there in the middle is that damned scarecrow.

Soon again the transformation. As I go back into my head. I just a warrior trying to keep his family fed.

Owed to the Raven the safety of our tribe. For all were gone by morning light. Our people kept alive.

Owed to the raven a boat on the shore. Untouched by the pounding storm. People safe at home who could ask for more?

I lift my hand with corn to the raven who gave us sight. Warning us, so we traveled in the night. Safe inside now we all abide. owed to the Raven owed to his eyes.Owed to the Raven our people all alive.
