The old man smiled as his young friend laid out his fears,
He worried this new love would somehow begin to fade over the years.
He knew he wanted this woman to become his forever wife,
How could he make sure she would be with him for life?
The old man looked into his eyes and said, "Please listen carefully to what I say,
"You must let her know you love her in little things you do every day."
Listen to her questions - answer truthfully when you give your advice,
Patronize her with "want to hear" statements, and your love will pay a terrible price
Surprise her with a card, a single rose, a small gift, for no reason - just because,
Let her know from time to time you thank her for putting up with your flaws.
If her perfume runs low replace it without saying a word,
With each use your voice whispering, "I love you" will be heard.
When she gives your children life, let her know this love debt can never be repaid,
Pledge that you will honor this precious gift with a love that will never fade.
Some nights just hold her close - feel the power of her love - nothing more,
With unspoken words she will thank you - her love to new heights will soar.
Show her the respect of an equal, for she is your partner in both good times and bad,
Be there for her thru all of those times, whether happy or sad.
If you do these things you will forever have a love no event or man will ever part,
Every day look deep into her eyes and listen for - "The Whispers From Her Heart."
