"THAT FEELING"
It's here again, much more ominous than before,
So silent, that I'm deafened by it's roar.
I listen for her thoughts, kept so well deep within,
Yet only silence greets me – silence – somehow I know I'll never win.
Simple things tell me she's leaving – for what even she doesn't know.
Can't she realize "That feeling" only destroys as you let it grow.
So all around, so desperate the air seems to be,
Stop – think – touch – caress - let yesterday forever be.
Tomorrow can't give if you ask of it too much,
Yesterday can teach, thru rights and wrongs and such.
Responsibility when accepted can force lovers apart,
Yet this distance fuels a need to hold someone close inside your heart.
Daily drudgery creates opening so pseudo lovers may creep in,
They whisper, cajole and suggest meetings where only they ever win.
So easy to find fault in one you know so well.
So easy to fall prey to a "What you want to hear" spell.
Forever tortured thoughts will be cast at my ceiling,
But for now it grows and grows – you know – "That Feeling."
