On one side mankind screamed, "This is War, your enemy you must kill!"
On the other side Jesus listened quietly – I understood his silence as my God's will.
Now so many years later, torturous memories roar thru my dreams,
Is Jesus trying to speak, thru the echoes of my long dead enemy's screams?
I snap awake some nights to stop the horror, still feeling the Surviving Soldiers Hurt,
There stands Jesus with all of my dead enemies, now just a handful of dirt.
The dirt disappears thru his fingers, as with both hands he gently cradles my soul,
With this wondrous act of forgiveness, Jesus speaks, making an old soldier once again whole.
