THE PEOPLE RISE! : Inspirational Poetry

A great moment in time

As a poet, patriot and lover of all good things

I have rarely had the opportunity- if ever to record

One great moment in time, and tonight January third, two thousand and eight

I get the distinct honor, privilege to be witness of a monumental moment in history

I witness the people of my country, the United States of America stand!

And vote, not the way the were programmed to vote

Not the way politicians wanted them to vote

I witnessed the unique power of the American people

To come together in a time of crisis and do the right thing

What thrills me the most is they did it voting for a black man

Not a corrupt woman, they voted for the person

And history was made and it wasn’t about color it was about Freedom

Now I have hope that all the good I felt was gone in people, can rise!

And now I know what I have been fasting for and  I feel more will rise, and more and more!
