THE OUTMASTERED SCULPTOR : Formal Poetry

The sculpture

Building first an armature of bones

Welding a metal frame, wrapping hard wires

First sketching in my mind

Anchoring the wires to a base

This sculptor then adds the fill

To apply muscles

Carefully adjusting the sculpture

Until it is on point of positing

The master artesian knows to right brain

Turning the brain into a higher= listening beckon

Allowing a force of higher realm

To take over our hands

Through garden gates of memory

Some trained,

others parts of a download of talents

Nothing is easy to the sculptor

Yet nothing is hard

Learning from experie3nce

The seasoned artist finds they are

Their own worst critic

Always sear4ching for that Shangri-La

Of perfection

Never satisfied always reaching for a higher realm-

Yearning always to master

The artist finds themselves out mastered

the sculpture takes life

The hands tell their own story

Reaching into a position

Never planned

The face beams with life

the mind is thrilled to

Find in your hands

You have created life

An enduring creation

Touched by something beyond

Becoming obsessed with the creation

It’s the last thing you touch when you sleep

The first thing you view when awakened

Honing it, reworking it for days

Then weeks, then months-

The months turn to years

one creation becomes another

Baking, curing, sanding

Refining, painting & adding details

To find you were the creation

Being sculpted

then the art becomes vanity

The only competition you found was you

Pushing yourself to out master your work

Looking at a little room

Filled with paints, clays

Supplies, the urge is gone

The desire waned

Pictures are all you have left

Of your life, your sculptures

And remembering

All of your life was dedicated to art

Starving for it, sacrificing

Not understanding why anymore

Yet you do it

Driv5en by a higher power

The hands of an artist

Can not stop-
