History please : African American Poetry

written by Poet : Tyesha Murray

Hey you! Who do you think you are? I,I,I 'm sorry sir but I am the queen. The one you could see in your dreams. I am the one you have been looking for your whole life isn't that right! How dare I say that. I have no right. To assume that who I think I am is up to you. My shoes are blue and my eyes are too, while my hair is half nappy, I think I'm pretty happy. With myself! So how bout you. You good , You alright. our history is kinda shady right!..But I'm that one you have been looking for all your life. You need me, as I need you, to set things right. Okay lift me up, allow me to reach my people and let them no that everything is equal. They don't half to hide anymore. I'll tell them that you stayed to open the gates to freedom. I will tell them walk don't run take in all the sites. Cause you might just come across that 40acres and a mule that we were looking forward to. actually run right pass that, you are  better than that lets go home and get our treasures back. Brace yourself it will break your heart too see, what they have done to our ancestrial souls. Lets do it this way. Together lets ahchieve our goals. Pray to the lord and join those, that ounce took away everything and replaced it with scraps. Colored!!! I don't think so. Strong, Black and proud is more like it.
