Without the moons light,
No pale face to guide,
A vast heaven empty of stars,
Complete blackness surrounding me,
I walk anxiously down the Brick walk hearing every step,
The nothingness follows and a sensation I have tells me I'm being watched,
My ears here sounds of whispers as my mind plays tricks upon me,
The night, the dark, it is my enemy, and it is my fear,
I walk faster but the footsteps behind me follow as they keep pace with mine,
I stop and listen, then breathe a sigh of relief,
Only for a moment do i feel calm, only for a second do i feel security,

Within the dark the light stays hidden,
Within the dark my demons are near,
by myself I face the night,
But my mind cant take the fear,
Heart starts pounding and body starts shaking,
In my head my strength is breaking,
Cold night dark as evil chases me,
The rage of unknown swims the blackest of seas,
Smiles on killers hiding behind trees,
My anxiety makes "my lungs weeze"....

To the ground cuddled in a ball,
Shaking and shivering to afraid to scream or call,
Footsteps closer with every step they make,
Heart is pounding, beating on my chest,,,,,

On the ground I feel the cold paved stone,
The killer never shows, my fears were over grown,
The moon cuts the night like a clever cuts through bone,
Shadows turn to trees and my path is paved with light,
Fear becomes relief as my strength becomes my site.

This poem and short story was written for those who have a fear of darkness and being alone. Often we let our very own minds take control as they travel us down a path of fear and uncertainty. This fear can terrify, this fear can scare, and this fear for many out there is very real.
Don't be afraid, Don't be alone, and walk not by yourself but with the Lord by your side.
