Through my youth I was king of the road,
I ventured into placesno others would go,
My youth gave me the feeling of being vibrant and free,
Every moment I was awake was a blessing to me,
I traveled down this path called life for awhile,
During my drive 3 children were produced bringing years filled with smiles,
I learned to sacrifice my friends and my fun,
All for my kids to have their day in the sun,
But now I feel my age and Its sleep that I need,
This path I traveled quickly and years past by with speed,
I'm tired and everything aches so it's their time to drive,
Every morning I wake is now a blessing to be alive,
I want to sit back and watch them for a change,
Soon I'll be a Grandpa and that will be strange,
But the time has come and the years tick down quick,
From a strong youth to an old man hoping not to get sick,
Theirs so much to see still and so much to do,
Lord keep me alive till my kids have a clue,
Let me guide them a bit longer and show them the way,
And the chance to make up for years of work and no play,
I want them to remember me with kind words and fond memories,
And when Im assured of that they can drive their own life and I'll give them the keys...

This poem was written for the many parents out there who work themselves to the bone sacrificing all that they have even the time needed to spend with their kids.
Sometimes trying to survive in this life is very cruel as it splits us apart every say as we work and go to school. Often we are left with only enough time to feed them and put them to bed.
After many years we hope our lives will slow down and help to open our eyes. Help us to realize their is no gift more precious then each other, and also show us that were almost out of time.
We are no longer teens, we are no longer pain free, nor do we heal as quick. Take this time to find a way to slow down and spend what little time you have left with your kids.
