Teach Me : School

written by Poet : Jeff Pelsang

Another day at Alvarado High,

one more day to watch the hours go bye,

They say I'm here to educate and learn,

Instead I dread the cafeteria food will give me heartburn,

Teachers have become babysitters for the few,

Class of clowns, making funny sounds, wasting my time at school,

"Teach me", and stop this long drawn out void,

Deprivation from education is making me totally annoid,

and they wonder why I skip class,

I don't even have to study and I'll pass,

They've dumbed down the curriculum giving everyone a free ride,

Me, rarely challenged only amused by how they let these morons slide,

Such a waste as my brain withers away,

I drift into a daydream of the anticipated college days,

Will they challenge me, and will they help me to grow?

I can only imagine the joy if they could teach me something I don't know,

"Teach me", stop letting these kids disturb the class,

They are stealing my future and making you look like an ass,

Did you even want to teach, or did you come to help us fail?

Challenge me, encourage me, just dont blow wind into my sails,

Look around at all these kids patient and waiting to be guided,

I have an open mide but this class is just one sided,

It leans to the misfits, troublemakers and fools,

Kids picking their noses while others gawk over girls and druel,

"Bring, Bring", the sound of the school day ends with a bell,

A glorious sound as boredom has left my empty shell....

This poem was written for all the kids who are smart but yet have to attend classes with those who don't care to work towards they're futures. Many teachers in my opinion have not been trained to stimulate the minds of children in hopes of a real education...
