At the door he stood,
She packed his bags in a half ass way,
He looked over his shoulder back at where she stood,
Her face a frown, then she looked down without a word to say, The door closed with the sound of the lock Knowing this was for good,
He stands there and pauses, it was hard to walk away, all those years together and memories shared, came to an end in a clash of words, both acting like neither one cared,
The fact is they were both thick minded and head strong, they loved each other so dear, but the pride in them and their need to win has ended their marriage I fear,
He takes a step and walks the hardened steps unto the blackened tar street, he heres a dog barking children laughing and playing, but his gloom, his lonliness is felt when his feet are on the street
As if he fell off a ladder after being at the top, he looks ahead wondering if he can do it, he then sits down on the sidewalk because its easier to stop,
Thinking to himself what have we done, where is our love that was once so strong, he thinks of the last time they made love, and leaving is just wrong..
He makes up his mind gets up to his feet heads to say hes sorry, He loves her so much he needs her touch and doesnt want her to ever worry,
Before he could knock he stands frozen with shock and hears a gunshot sound, then rushes right in to see his love, lying on the ground,
Tears roll from his eyes he holds her tight crying out with pain and dismay, but then his wife holds him back and says Im sorry I dropped the coffee pot, it was shattered by the counter where she lay,
They held each other tight he cried and cried and cried,
from that moment on pride was never to strong to keep their love at bay......
