doing meaningless tasks for some change to buy a coke,
Just enough money made to almost get by but not enough to advance no matter how hard I try
The life in the city sees no pity as beggars are spat upon by other beggars, and the man dressed in blue whacks you with a stick and tells you to move
When I sit beneath the sky scrapers and look up to its peak it dizzies my mind and lose my breathe with what I see
I can only be so lucky to find myself at the top, I wonder what stole my youthful thunder to give up at that shot
I started in the mail room which was the best years of all, worked hard, played hard, and hung out with friends at the mall
The sounds of the sorting machines to others was noise but for me it was clarity as my paycheck gave choice
Today on this hard sidewalk I sit hurting, getting ready to take a bow as my last days are certain
They say its going to be a cold winter this year so I'm looking up, looking for a little love, hoping the man upstairs still cares as I have suffered enough
