The crescent moon cracks the dark of the night,
Owls sound hoo before taking flight,
The locust sings with the rubbing of wings,
and still I wait for you,
My fingers run up and down that old pecan tree,
searching the rough wrinkles for what I cant see,
The words we once carved to live on for forever,
The hopes of two lovers to always be together,
and still I wait for you,
Memories revisted from many past days,
Reruns enjoyed as I let them replay,
The first kiss was here, here where I sit,
Your lips to mine and my hand on your hip,
I pulled you in closer till we both gave in,
We spent the night as lovers with friction warmed skin,
Been ten years since you past away,
The wait is now over as I lie down and
die where I lay.
