Iced Over : Creative Writing

written by Poet : Jeff Pelsang

It was 6am and the outside world was quiet and cold,

Icicles hung from the limbs of newly waking trees,

Mr Winter had us all fooled letting us think spring would unfold,

The warmth we had enjoyed now has become yesterdays tease,

I wake in time to see the sunrise reflect off the icy ground,

Shimmering light brilliantly sparkles within the ice prisms,

Not a sound to be heard or a trace of life to be found,

Only the sound of my heartbeat as it keeps its lifes rhythm,

I drag my freezing butt through the house to an awaiting coffee pot,

The thought of coffee increase as does my addiction to the drink,

Summer time and tanning run in my mind to a trot,

Coffee cups graze one another as I hurridly grab" making a clink",

Ahh cold days and a warm brew so fit nicely together,

Another day another view as nature puts on a play,

I hold my cup close to my chest and wish to watch for forever,

And indeed I hope that heaven hears the prayers that I pray,

"I pray that I wake tomorrow and see another Day".
