Holes of Humanity : War

written by Poet : Jeff Pelsang

Sun came up today and the rays reflected off the shimmering sand,

My gun still cool to the touch after a long night spent as a restless man,

Burried in deep up to my chest I peer across the barron horizon,

Its quiet for now but sooner or later will be the echoes of soldiers fighting,

The enemy wears no colors and honor is not part of his plan, Ive learned to hate our hidden foes and the nothingness of this land,

Soldiers joke while I just smoke thinking of things back home,

I miss the trees, i miss golf tees, I miss my cellular phone,

Most of all I miss a life filled with family and friends, that talk more of life and not of guns away from this damn sand,

If I survive and live to return Im never comming back, this place is hell this place is dead, this place is called Iraq.
