Within these walls I am imprisoned,
this mind has fenced me in,
Echoes stir the emptiness,
This creaking house is but a friend,
From the window I look to see children at play,
I wonder if their smiles are real,
or if they feel like I do each day,
Looking forward only to a meal,
The lonliness is like a dagger as it forces me into a ball,
Holding my knees close to my chest I stare at empty walls,
The doctors called it depression, my mom said to go out and play,
But instead Im all alone begging for the end of days,
Night time hits and my shadow vanishes with a summer sleeping moon,
The clock ticks loudly in a repetitive fashion as loud as clanking spoons,
Tick Toc Tick Toc I feel so alone,
Tick Toc Tick Toc I hear the next door neighbors phone,
One more time before I lay I peer outside and see a bird,
A red cardinal that stairs at me and never peeps a word,
I watch it build a nest of twigs persistent without rest,
The i lay my head upon the sill and do what I do best...sleep

This poem is about people who suffer depression. Often a chemical imbalance makes our lives unbearable and if untreated can lead to more then mental health issues but also physical health issues.
If you know anyone who seems lost as this young child in the poem does then please help them out and seek out what causes their depression.
Depression is a feeling of mental torture and often lonliness even when surrounded by friends.
