In the dark lit corner of the local tavern I sit,
A glass half empty is lifted to my lips,
My minds deep in thought about the woman that I love,
She once walked this world now she looks from high above,
I swore I'd never love another and today this still holds true,
Remembering the past filled smiles and the things we use to do,
I raise my glass and toast our time how little that we had,
Now missing you and your sweet touch leaves me lost as Ive grown sad,
Young and vibrant I once was chasing my priceless dream,
To win her heart and settle down in hopes she'd be my queen,
I clear the glass of all the whiskey and fill it once again,
A never ending toast pursued to cherish the life of my best friend,
Without this drink, without this bottle Id be dead and gone,
The hours pass the old clock ticks my body forces out a yawn,
By myself I sit as life I'd quit with no dreams left in sight,
I would give anything to be with her tonight,
Tears roll down an old wrinkled face as eyes pool up in thought,
I lose the battle to hide my feelings as the last drink had been bought,
"Last call for alchol", the bartender yelled aloud,
I stagger to my feet then fall to the hard planked ground,
Out of focus my eyes see a woman or maybe this is a dream,
She floats in front of me, its my lost and lovely queen,
She reaches her hand down and lifts me with such ease,
Her smile fills my eyes and her warmth brings back the dream,
Together we travel hand in hand to the heavens high above,
God finally answered my prayers and united me with my love.......
We are young again,,,,,,,and our memories are where we live...........
