As a Father and a man I try to do the best I can,
but sometimes a fathers intentions are lost in transition,
My intentions are always good but often hard to understand,
As a father I can just try as I play out my role and position,
My hopes is that I can guide my children and give them sound advice, words of wisdom they will hear without having to repeat them twice,
To keep the fridge full and provide them with all their basic needs, to teach them the value of a hard earne buck and the downfalls of uncontrolled greed,
To see them when they first fall in love acting stupid and crazy like those in love do, then lending them a shoulder to cry on when loves found not to be true,
Capturing a glimpse of them as they celebrate graduating high school, with smiles on their faces and an understanding that they still don't have a clue,
As a Dad I will be there for them in their time of need, to do my best to plant hope and determination and hope that I leave a growing seed,
To teach them right from wrong and show them what it is to be proud, as I look to them I cry knowing they soon won't be around,
For as a father I love strongly but can rarely show my love, I'm still a work in progress so I hope that its enough,
And when we all get a little older I hope that they see I tried my best, for my life is always working towards providing, until one day I'll take my final rest.....
