Me and You : Black Poetry

written by Poet : Sleeping_Dark

ME and YOU

๑۩۞۩๑

Like blackened bread and poisoned wine,

You smile as you take away what’s mine,

As history entwines with time,

I seek the truth behind the crime.

What do you see that I do not?

Why are you free, when I am not?

Are you not the same as me?

But I am shackled, while you run free.

Are we not both of flesh and blood,

Are we not creatures made from mud?

Yet you are there, and I am here,

You live in glory, I dwell in fear.

Why am I here, left to be,

Stuck in a cage without a key?

Who are you to treat me such?

To deprive me of a gentle touch.

Am I too abhorrent for you to see?

That you do not even look at me.

Have I no dignity, am I less than you?

When I am cut, don’t I bleed too?

Why do you still do this to me?

Why am I slave, while you are free?
