You, the apple of desire…
A tantalizing taste,
Is all I ever need,
To lay my soul to waste…
Please, spirit me away…
My anguished soul doth strain,
On taut and twisted reins,
Yet, insatiate I still remain…
You, like a proud, unfallen star
That dares me from afar
To calm my thund'rous heart
Else, rend its knots apart…
Come, set my world on fire,
Alight me on the pyre,
When your lips doth speak my name,
Consume me with thy flame.
Of jewelled skies o'er my strings
And love, a wanton thing
Can plunge on burnt, black wings
To hang amidst the thorns.
Blood, like scarlet velvet worn
About the clouded moon
Who wanes in solitude...
…I am alone.
