And In The Glade A Light Was Seen : Adult Poetry

written by Poet : Sleeping_Dark

I came out crying for the sun, into a world where there was none,

But blackened soil and burning woods, wherein the darkened shadows brood,

You and me-we know that land, where on the ground is glassy sand,

And silent memories all around, all crying with their thoughts unbound,

A gentle whisper, a muttered word, like ripples through the docile herd,

Can spread like flame on parchment set, a symphony, swansong duet,

Your hair is grey; your heart lies still, where you lean by window sill,

Your silent towers in mist awaits, the end that comes now, far too late,

You look around upon this Earth, as if you were her first born birth,

As if she had no purpose for you, and none had lived in life before you.

And in the glade a light was seen, of stars and shadows shimmering,

I danced my way through silent trees, my voice a whisper in the breeze,

Faintly dark to softest light, when first I glimmered in your sight,

I danced my way through hill and stone, my feet on lands I call my own.

For passing were the days my friend, and doomed the lonely nights,

Where flitting ghost moths tapered round, in search of fleeting lights,

One moment now may give us more; but there is none to be,

For dying is the world before our eyes can look to see.

And in the glade a light was seen, of stars and shadows shimmering,

I danced my way through silent trees, my voice a whisper in the breeze,

Faintly dark to softest light, when first I glimmered in your sight,

I danced my way through hill and stone, my feet on lands I call my own.

To her fair works did nature link, and much it grieved my heart to think,

That deep within her soul it ran, what she did make of mortal man,

No longer will we wake to see, the radiant dawns of misery,

No longer will we sleep to find, a dream world waiting for the blind.

And now I look beneath the skies, amidst the clouds of misty ice,

Where all roads end however long, like misty echoes of a song,

Upon the hills and grassy knolls, through great and everlasting walls,

Where men now gather in human rings, round red bonfires while one voice sings.

And in the glade a light was seen, of stars and shadows shimmering,

I danced my way through silent trees, my voice a whisper in the breeze,

Faintly dark to softest light, when first I glimmered in your sight,

I danced my way through hill and stone, my feet on lands I call my own.

Far less happy, for we have, no help nor hope beyond the grave

None awake to joy or sorrow, ours the sleep that knows no morrow

This is all that I can show, this is all that you may know,

Dancing by the haunted spring, riding on the whirlwinds wing,

Something neither heaven nor hell, a thing that neither stood nor fell

Something through your wit or will, may work thee good, may work thee ill,

What I am, I must not show, what I am thou couldst not know,

And in the air I danced on high, to the loud music of the sky.

And in the glade a light was seen, of stars and shadows shimmering,

I danced my way through silent trees, my voice a whisper in the breeze,

Faintly dark to softest light, when first I glimmered in your sight,

I danced my way through hill and stone, my feet on lands I call my own.
