To Say I Was In Love Before : Love Poetry

written by Writer : Scarlett Schreiber

To say I was in love before

Let go for rack and ruin

Dying stars gasping flicker

Candle lights sleeping sedated

Snuffed out one by one

Dried flowers desiccant--

The smoothing of Time

Curing oils protective shell

Archived in yellowing varnish

 Memories clapped erasers

Dusting the wind

Sorrows fleeted away

But for minute unseen residue

Forgotten winds back drafted glue

Sub planted subconscious

Stuck fast to shot silk

Shimmering blue pastel

All that was forsaken

Secrets with the Moon… will fade

Vanishing scripted blackboards

Overwritten time and time again

No longer keepsakes

Noble mottos turned rosary beads

Worry polished despair

Nervous fingers on wooden spheres

Prayed their reflections

Abstinence on rainy day malaise

Hope living on supplications

Came to life one day

Prayers do sometimes answer--

A new sun rakes thousand rays

Cross hearts of veined coals

The ash exposed cored embers

Sweeping away Decembers

Your love barefoot strolled

The corridors of memory

Our story long ago foretold

All that eyes and ears bear hold

Unfolding the master plan

The rugged cross a preparation

Groundwork laid twin souls

It's fulfillment its joy

Your soulheart mine joined

Dovetailed fate and destiny

Eons past coined in gold

Come again the holy bell tolls
