A Run For Your Life : Narrative Poetry

written by Poet : Nobody-Special

A race of happiness and of strife

Hold you position, don't lose your place

Coasting around the track call life

A green flag signals - Start the race.

Years of preparation are now on the line

You speed up looking for a chance

You say again this is my time

My position in life I will enhance.

A yellow flag is suddenly given

Some danger on the track ahead

Cautiously the race is now driven

Or comes the derailment you so dread.

For someone the race is ending

Red flags are being displayed

For another life is ebbing

You stop, the race has been delayed.

The race continues at a torrid pace

You fight your way to the top

Cheating with a smile and grace

Lest a black flag your race to stop.

Starting the last lap, it's in the bag

You drove heartly and brave

At last the end, the checkered flag

Now your ready for the grave.

For what matters the winning

If the things for which you strive

When comes the final ending

Includes not love - Your not alive. . . . .
