Right now I'm not too fond of my fellow human beings and that comes from eavesdropping on a conversation between some people I know. They were talking of some friend that I don't know, but this friend was apparently shocked at a scenery in a busy corner of the town.
He or she had been standing, waiting for the bus, when he/she saw someone sitting in a car with a small black and white kitten in one hand. It looked strange, but the kitten was very small so one might hold it like that. However, suddenly another hand opened the window of the car and the hand with the kitten shot out - and purposely dropped the defenceless animal to the ground. It was hit by another car, but didn't die until car number three and four ran over it, flattening it to the ground.
This happened so fast that the one who involuntarily watched the scenery got a shock and couldn't make a note of the number of the first car, but he/she was assured that this happened "for fun" and that the people in the car were young and giddy. I should say that in my book they are first and foremost tormentor of animals.
In a way it was also cruelty to animals what happened to another kitten I've heard about. It was totally alone in a derelict railway station, meowing and looking very shabby and under nourished. Was it a wild cat, not a pet? Nobody knows, but if it was a pet, then it shouldn't be there as it can't feed on nothing, can't find its own food and doesn't know how to protect itself.
I'm disgusted by both these instances of the plight of cats. Poor critters, shouldn't be treated like that.
