Once in a while holiness is recognized
my feline cousins in Egypt ruled human hearts
adored they died to turn divine
cat-gods staring at the world from painted caskets
as well as wrapped in layer upon layer of ointed cloth
the charming feline playfulness laid dead
but still, holy to the world of humans
as where Bast, the cat-headed goddess of their clan
pleasure-goddess, charming everyone
feline in her movements, catty in her ways
Holiness in death, both in humans and in cats
robbed of life, sacrificed into divinity
the living turned into a dead god
with a sceptre of souls they rule the living
