I'm staying at an old house for some days. It used to be the end station for farm animals who came here for one reason: To die. I can see the iron rings in the wall that held them whilde the butcher took out his knives to cut their throats, thus turning the living creatures into beef steaks.
Well, I eat meat too so I can't condemn what happened, only point out what a sad act it is when seen from the perspective of the animals: At first they may toil for the farmer and maybe even feel friendly toward him, but all of it only to end up as his food. That would be the fate of most farm horses and the oxens as well. The cows would be robbed of some of the food for their calves before they themselves are turned into food.
All of it quite normal everyday-events, but on another level deeply disturbing ...
