can bring down the blaze
the angry smoke
disguising the rage
trees are toppling
creatures scurry to
escape the flames
the crackling above me
stirs adrenaline
with a thrashing stick

can save us
from the fissure of the fire
stretching my hand
to where it could not reach
the fire's embers now
they glow like
stars of the soil

will stitch the chasm
and form a passage
through what once was
aflame
