last night
burst out in a steam of pride
hit the road
and drove too fast
with the CD player a blasting
the neurons in my head blasting
a brew of anger and sour wine
what once was a rage
now burns like a candle
and i turn inside myself
knowing i lost a friend
a penance i must keep
the streetlights sway and swagger
casting shadows on my eyes
when the gloves come off
my are already on the floor
and i'm sorry babe
sometimes pride makes a man
bubble like oil
that don't make it right
the scars of invisible pain
echo and resonate much louder
than my wheels
disappearing into the
not so quiet night
