you wake up to it
a jolt awake
still you linger
catch a few notes
before you head out to
the cacophony of the city
i’ve burned my CDS
turned up the volume
louder than loud
music puts me in the right place
before the sterile world
i enter at work
for hours
i play the songs in my head
there’s nothing else to do
and i feel this resistance
when i’m driving home

when i hover near a school
the PTA wags their fingers

it’s music
my soother my put me into the place
language

what language to speak
