Invincible : Death Poetry

the more correct time would be morning hiram was dying alone no family to sit beside his bed so i offered my hand took a seat wanting to see what was said he talked about his childhood Clincher softballs and springy basketballs "i never felt more alive then son my heart pumping my sweat pouring" me and the boys from Building C i reminded him of his family the wife the kids the branches of his family tree he had built "no, son life got complicated then all i needed back then was a hoop my sneakers and twenty-five cents for a bottle of pop" i did not say it but i could relate my hands dirty from the orange seams walkin down the street with my boys we were invinicible Hiram looked up at me and squeezed my hand "you do know how that feels on" i nodded a nurse came up and asked me "don't you have more patients to see?" i lied and i said no i was going to keep hanging with Hiram keep holding his hand til Hiram was no longer invincible
