you're mad at me
don't know what to say
then again
I didn't know back then
and that's why you're angry now
sometimes words get away
they race and echo
carve and cut
so I'm putting some new words together
mixing them up
hoping that they
will mend the wound between us
can't sprinkle them with magic
can't make them head back into time
so putting together romantic reminders
dancing them into the right rhythm
making a lasting shadow in the candlelight
not expecting you to forget
but hoping you'll go forward with me
into time and fire and
all the things we used to be
we're not broken
we need a few steps and
a few sundowns
maybe my words have a little sorcery
a little alchemy
I'll have to pull these words
out of my magic hat
throw them into the air
and hope
