I'm up on the roof.
Stars shining bright.
Who the hell needs proof,
That things are right?
Under the moon.
Just beyond the darkness.
The end of June.
Just escaped summers harshness.
The cool of the night.
The sound of the bats.
The moon shining bright.
That's right I said bats.
The doves in the trees.
The crickets chirp.
Did the mountain sneeze?
Or was it the earth?
The train whistle moans.
The river awakes.
The sidewalk groans.
As the mountain shakes.
If the rooftop falls,
Then so must I.
And when nature calls.
I'll say goodbye.
