the fountain of youth,
the truth about ourselves,
ourselves,
who we really are,
nothing but children in the playground we call life,
the future is empty,
the future is an illusion,
the future does not exist,
the future is an abstract idea,
a distraction from the living moment...
the living moment,
a role playing moment,
a constant reminder of who we choose to be.
we are what we choose to be.
what we choose to be is in our hands.
to be able to choose is to be in control.
to be in control is to be aware,
aware of ourselves and of our powers.
to be aware is to be able to see the self from side to side,
from top to bottom,
beginning to end,
to size it up,
to weigh it and measure it and study it.
the self is like a mindless thing,
an animal in heat,
uncontrollable in the heat of the moment,
seeing red.
the self has to be tamed,
put on a leash,
channelled.
channelled by thoughts that guide it.
thoughts like signs that serve as constant reminders on the winding road,
reminders that alert us not to forget,
not to forget the steering wheel and fall without control into the steep valley below.
to stay focused,
to stay alert,
aware.
aware of the moment and to choose to be immersed in it.
to choose to be immersed in it,
and once done,
you forget and you let the moment take you...
it takes you there,
here, there, everywhere...
our minds work by understanding metaphors,
a metaphor is a set of words that have a parallel meaning,
All the world’s a stage,
And all the men and women merely actors;
They have their exits and their entrances; — William Shakespeare, As You Like It, 2/7
which role is each of us going to play,
to live,
to be,
to truly be?
do we surrender to this mindless self which blindly steers us?
or do we tame it and channel it and be free,
free to ride the sky!
