Venus : Def Poetry

written by Poet : EC

When the shell cracked the World changed
she emerged, silent but in full splendour
the breeze caught her hair and combed it
it carressed her and spelt out her beauty
the world listened and believed its verdict
this was "she", the love-goddess herself
greeted by music she sailed forth, a conqueror

The world she inherited was overwhelmed
being a goddess of love she was loved
forgotten was that Venus of hips and bosom
the goddess from Willendorf
giving birth was her gift to the world
looking good was what the shell-born one did
one gave birth to herself by her abilities
the other was born in the eyes of men

Old tales, modern truths, perpetual problems
that's the legacy of the goddess Venus
