Sometimes the hours run ahead of time
a big confusion when time is limping behind
all these 60 minutes-blocks can run all too fast
my clock may even strike twice for one
does that add or deduct time from my age?
make me older or younger than the calendar says?
How very confusing when the hours run amock
maybe I shall wake up a baby or an old lady
the loser in this game of fugitive hours
perhaps that's what life is about: To have and lose time
never regaining what was ours we count our losses
sorrow settling somewhere in our souls
