Even asleep my love is like a tornado
crescent Heavens lie around his temples
garlands of unspoken victories, unknown cruelties
Now slumbering, but when awake breathing storms
someone suffers, caught in the maelstrom
stems against the wind, tumbled like a leaf
Who could that be, crying, fighting, cursing?
I kiss my love and watch him wake up
tiger's eyes, cursing, threatening awaken to
predatory pet's needs, then cloud into baby's eyes
What is this creature, Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde?
He sits up and say in a muffled voice:
"I dreamt of you." I smile and kiss him
