Christmas it is when some chubby gent keeps dropping by
not dropping by me, but in the world of salesfolk and buyers
all the time this "buy", "buy", "buy" and "sell", "sell", "sell"
a nice routine that sends us buying is when he laughs
"ho, ho, ho" it says, this famous, spine-melting laugh
makes us soft like cooked spaghetti, ready to buy even more
we may love it right now, but what about that month of January?
suddenly the headaches set in, how could we do it once again?
didn't we swear last year to end this silly marathon gifting?
our pockets cry for linings that last, so does our bank accounts
and some of this to outdo those Joneses whom we don't even know
