It Comes to Us All : Life

written by Poet : EC

The parcel was delivered by hand
suddenly, there it stood, outside my door
big, but not very heavy, easy to lift
I took it with me and peeked inside

However, something peeked back at me
something breathing and coughing

My shock was considerable
I opened it with shaky fingers
out came a small creature
a lil', old lady, doll size, but alive

She looked at me
I looked at her

Then she smiled and said:
"Your turn to sit in the box"
I got a shock and went no-no-no
while doing so I shrank and she grew

"Yes-yes-yes," she said, "it comes to us all"
and right she was, it does
now I sit in the box, waiting to be delivered
