I looked for God, wanted some advice
life often takes that coarse, but
the precious answer escaped me
this answer, the most needed of them all was in a foreign tongue, a Babel-sound
I looked for God, wanted some advice
what did I find? A bearded wise man?
Allah, worshipped by millions?
A vindictive Jahve, or a fierce Odin?
Perhaps God hid in a coat of blood?
I looked for God, wanted some advice
I went everywhere, on the mountain
in the sea and on ground
I looked, I looked, I looked
nowhere was God to be found
I looked for God, wanted some advice
but didn't find anything but sounds, colours
love, hatred, animals of all descriptions
I rested my case, weary I laid down and slept
and in my sleep God found me
I looked for God, wanted some advice
and here it was, an intelligible language
of sounds, colours, splendours of all kinds
in my heart I understood every word
good and bad, within and without, up and down
God is everywhere, encompasses everything
....................................................................
Strangely enough this may be the most didactive poem I've ever written,
but I found it impossible to give expression to my opinion on this
subject in all too symbolic words. Also, I'm not blind to the fact,
that even here, in the simplest of languages, it may easily be
misunderstood.
