FortuneTelling (: formerly published and revised) : Easter Poetry

written by Poet : EC

As so often before, a strange sadness in the morning
but doesn't that mean happiness in the evening?
If so, what a miracle when one feels miserable

Three sparrows sitting together means something
wonder what, but hope it can counteract bites from an adder
not to speak of bankruptcy and a sudden death of love

The coffee-pot told of dire griefs, losses and no way out
the teabags promised prosperity and a long life in love
but the stars told of false hopes and new misery

Fortune Cookies abound with predictions of luck and happiness
why crack them when they were factory-made?
No spookiness, no angels from above in those machines

What a mass of fortune tellers that we gave birth and impact
each of them claiming our attention and our faith
by doing so we earn what we get, misery and confusion
