We come as beggars
right into this world of affluence
None the less, this is ours by birthright
anybody to contend our position?
All those who were aren't anymore
neither dinosaurs, nor neanderthals
Father Time took them as a snack
and what are we to him?
Maybe a yummy dessert
something for the sweet tooth?
One thing is for sure
nothing lasts forever
not even the pretty, rich heirs
those "have-it-alls" that we envy
neither the beggar in the street
who annoys us
nothing that matters today
will set hearts afire in 3009
The time alone is what we have
something we can't keep
nor pass on, or bargain away
Suspended in time we are
hostages of Father Time
