written by Poet : EC

Suspended in air, thin as smoke, solid as rock
not my choice, but somehow a celestial reward
Little by little I let in the impact of the scenery
The light was dimmed, hardly discernible
maybe a cloud was blotting out the sun?
No, something not angelic, a big, black figure

Someone watching me! I shouted in despair
Someone big and black as coal
Someone with horns and tail, cloven feet
Someone reeking, Earthy and defiled
Someone not exactly my dream beau

The creature smiled, flashing yellow teeth
I felt them as they would feel, digging into my flesh
"Oh, a snack," he said, making me angry
"My flesh is poison, many have died from it"
He roared with laughter:
"I haven't died before, maybe I would like it?"

I wriggled as best I could, but to no avail
suspended I was, suspended I stayed
A lollipop in air, a take away dinner
"What happened," I roared, "where are they?"
"The angels? Well, they lost, and I won."
"Eeeekkk!" I yelped, desperatation in every vein

"Come to think of it, I'm all alone now
I need an associate, a right hand in my business ..."
"I apply, I apply for that job, it's fine with me"
My soul churned itself into knots by those words
but my eyes, my entire frame turned blacker than black
as I freed myself from my suspended position

I watched my hands turn into claws
as I looked down the feet were goat's feet
the pointed tip of a tail looked me in the face
As I pushed it behind I felt the horns in my forehead
they had made their way through scaly skin
My eyes opened to reality: THIS was always within
