In the end it came to nothing
gifts all over the place
none of them THE GIFT
disappointments tagged each gift
did we cry?
No, but we didn't forget those socks
not to speak of the gloves
What did we want then?
Fairy tale beauty in each and all of the gifts
adventures, fun and freedom from childhood
travels with the famed sledge
to become best friend with reindeers
however, first and foremost splendour
However, all those lights came to nothing
they didn't bring new realms, new everything
no, all the candles only shone to die
none of it more than a passing dream
even the magic Santa was a lie
demasked as grandfather he turned small
that's when we learnt to laugh at adversity
to hug the imposter and forget Santa
