Celestial Birthday : Life

written by Poet : EC

I phoned Space
"Hello", I said, "didn't you forget my birthday?"
No answer
"My present must have been misplaced or even lost ..."
Silence was the only answer
"You owe me, so now you give me ..."
There was a slight coughing and then a faint voice:
"Oh, my dear, this is your Uncle Moon, sorry you feel that way"
"Sorry you say, you should be, a birthday is a birthday ..."
"Ok," he said, "will you stop complaining if I light all the stars just for you?"
"Don't you do that anyway?" I asked, very surprised
"Be reasonable, you are not the only one in this world ..."
"Maybe, but I'm ME, nobody is like me ..."
No answer, but all the stars started to glimmer, that is except the one I favored the most
I phoned Space once more - and all the stars went cold and dead ...
